Using PurokMaps
What is PurokMaps?
PurokMaps aims to help homes, businesses, community places and landmarks have a simple, shareable digital address or location identity, tied to their actual location and recognizable local geography. Digital-address generation for homes and businesses is a core planned capability. It is not available here as a verified live production service.
Can I use it now?
You can explore these information pages now. Home and business address generation is planned, and a full resident service is not available here. Pilot invitations will follow tested availability and confirmed participation arrangements.
What could it help with?
Intended benefits include easier delivery and pickup, visitor directions, finding local businesses, service appointments, shorter landmark explanations and a shareable identity for digital commerce and mapping. These are possibilities to test, not measured results. Use by responders or community services would require separate validation.
Is it free?
Pilot terms and any fees still need confirmation. No lifetime-free or unlimited-use offer has been agreed.
Do I need a smartphone or internet connection?
Ask the local host about assisted demonstrations. Offline maps and a public SMS lookup service have not been verified. Attendance at an explanation session should not require a social-media account.
Does it work through WhatsApp or Messenger?
Messaging channels are still being developed and tested. Wait for a confirmed channel and participation notice before sending any private location.
Which languages does it support?
The campaign proposes Cebuano, English and Filipino materials reviewed locally. That does not establish complete product translation or language understanding. Ask which language assistance the session offers.
Privacy & Safety
Is this an official address or proof that I own land?
No official recognition has been established. A location record or code does not prove land ownership, residency or eligibility for services. Keep using the official address information required by the relevant institution.
Do I need to submit my home location?
Introduction sessions can use public places. Do not post home coordinates in comments or send another person's location without permission. Before a resident pilot, the team must explain the approved information and participation process.
Who will see my information?
That depends on the approved pilot design, which is still under review. Do not assume that a submitted record is private. The team must explain visibility, access and sharing before enrollment. Sensitive places should not enter a public demonstration.
Can I change or remove information?
A staffed correction and privacy-request route is a pilot prerequisite. The tested process and contact must appear in the participation notice. An automatic self-service deletion feature has not been verified.
What if a location is wrong?
Use the approved staffed correction route when available. Keep private details out of comments. During a pilot, confirm important details with the destination contact and follow the stated limitations.
Can I use it in an emergency?
PurokMaps is not an emergency dispatch service. Use established local emergency channels. The proposed pilot evaluates ordinary tasks.
What data would the LGU provide?
Start by assessing whether approved public-place information is sufficient. Do not transfer resident directories, beneficiary lists or private household coordinates by default. Document authority, purpose, minimization, access, retention and sharing before any data exchange.
Who controls the data?
The controller/processor arrangement and responsibilities must be determined for the actual pilot. This proposal does not assign ownership or statutory roles. Your data protection officer and counsel should review the arrangement, including any overseas processing.
Is PurokMaps compliant with the Data Privacy Act?
No compliance certification is established. The actual pilot needs privacy review, suitable controls and transparent notices before participation.
Can we use it for emergency dispatch?
No operational emergency suitability has been demonstrated. A non-emergency workshop can identify requirements, but no life-saving, dispatch, uptime or response-time promise belongs in pilot promotion.
Cebu Pilot
Where is the proposed pilot?
The requested starting context is Cebu, including Tacup, Gawaygaway, Lambusan and Tambongon. Local coordination and supported coverage still need confirmation. Naming an area does not mean its leadership has endorsed the project.
How can I help?
Learn about a preview, review a permitted public-place description, or ask how community participation will work. Participation must remain voluntary. Do not publish other people's information to help fill the map.
What is the proposed first task?
Choose one ordinary task involving permitted public places, such as explaining a meeting point. Agree the user group, observation method, supported area and correction owner before enrollment.
What will the pilot measure?
Proposed measures include attempted/completed tasks, clarification exchanges, unresolved errors, correction turnaround and accessibility barriers. Publish sample, period, method and limitations. No measured benefit is available yet.
What happens after the pilot?
Review utility, correction workload, privacy concerns and funding. Decide whether to continue, improve or stop. Agree data retention and exit arrangements before starting. Expansion should depend on evidence and maintenance capacity.
LGUs & Partners
What decision are you asking us to make?
Whether to nominate a focal person and scope a limited ordinary-task pilot. We are not asking your office to endorse a finished service, purchase a package or share household data at this stage.
What is implemented?
This informational site provides project information. The full public addressing experience, deployed LGU dashboard and integrations still need development and testing.
What remains unfinished?
Public addressing, production operation, privacy controls, messaging availability, data quality and resident support still need development or validation.
Does the pilot create official house numbers?
No. No official numbering authority or recognition has been established. Any relationship with local numbering or postal addressing requires separate review and agreement.
Can it connect to our systems?
No integration with your systems has been tested. Define access, information exchange, failure handling and support together before proposing one. Export, analytics and dashboard availability need confirmation.
Who maintains the records?
The pilot should appoint a local data steward and a technical support owner. Review frequency, correction escalation, funding and exit arrangements need written scope. A volunteer upload alone is not a maintenance plan.
What does it cost?
No commercial offer has been approved. Discuss a scoped budget that includes operation, review, training and support once the task and responsibilities are clear.
May we announce a partnership?
Only after both parties approve participation and the exact wording. Logo/name permission is separate from attending a conversation. No endorsement is implied by receiving this brief.
